Carbon dioxide sinks within Los Angeles Basin, Ventura Basin, and Bakersfield oilfields have been assessed according to the methodology described in the 2010 Carbon Sequestration Atlas (Appendix B) prepared by the Department of Energy.

Please note that only 60% of each field area was used for assessments. Our conservative approach takes into consideration stratigraphic and lithologic lateral discontinuities. Final selection of a CO2 sequestration site would require a more detailed, site-specific geological investigation.

Oil field data was obtained from the California Division of Oil and Gas and Geothermal Resources. Natural gas storage information was obtained from the 1993 American Gas Association Operating Section Report.
